HONORS BAND Sectionals begin week of September 9, 2008

AM SECTIONALS: Arrive 7:15 a.m.; Sectional is 60 minutes: 7:15 - 8:15 a.m.

Monday: Oboes

Tuesday: Bb Clarinets, Trumpets

Wednesday: Flutes, Low Brass

Thursday: All Saxophones, French Horns, Honors Band Percussion

Friday: Low Reeds, Symphonic I Percussion

PM SECTIONALS: Bell 3:50 p.m.; Sectional is 60 minutes: 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Wednesday: Low Brass

Outstanding Section Awards are based on:

1. Perfect Attendance
2. Promptness
3. Assignments turned in on time

Sectionals are important in order to continue the development of fundamental playing skills in a like instrument setting. More individual attention can be given to students in a small group with the same instrument. In addition to fundamental development, we will work on performance music for District / Region Band. Students may be tested for grades and chair placement in each of these sectionals. Some testing may also be in the form of a weekly taped test. In addition to the playing test grade, each student will receive a grade of 100 for sectional attendance. Sectionals are a required activity of the Honors Band. Sectionals will meet once a week for 60 minutes of playing time.

Students, parents, coaches and directors must be as flexible as possible so each student is able to attend these important sectionals.
